Highlighting Our Spring Share Your Shutters Winner

Holly Perron

We’re moving through springtime here in Hartford, but don’t think we forgot about our quarterly Share Your Shutters contest. Our winner for Spring is Tonya S., who submitted a few photos of her new shutters that really show off some great design choices.

Tonya’s space features some gorgeous new Polywood® plantation shutters in the dining room. Since her shutters are shut, you can really get a look at how much control plantation shutters really give you over your lighting. Imagine that dining room with a slightly softer light; it would be a picture-perfect setting for a personal candlelit dinner, right? With the right shutters in your home like Tonya has, you can express that exact mood regardless of what it’s like outside.

Take a look at how the white shutters perfectly match the white trim on the baseboard and the white ceiling. Those matching neutrals make the black wood furniture and the wood floor’s natural color ”pop” even more.

But that wasn’t her only photo submission. Below is another photo she submitted of her new sliding barn door shutter!

There’s a number of reasons we love this barn door shutter. The first reason is that it looks fantastic. The rustic look of the wood paneling with that modern jet black sliding track up top give an enduring yet cozy look. What we like even more than the shutters’ looks is how practical it is. The barn door shutter sits off the window frame, so it can effectively block light while still allowing the window to open and close.

Since her shutter sits on the frame, Tonya can still make use of that deep window jamb, too. For instance, if she wanted to set a plant on the sill to get sunlight, she could even close the shutter to let it soak up some rays while keeping her home as dim or bright as she wants.

Tonya tells us that this is the third time they’ve chosen window treatments from Sunburst Shutters, and we want to thank her for continuing to choose us for all her window design needs. For winning our quarterly Share Your Shutters contest, Tonya received a $100 gift card to a restaurant in her area.

Are your new shutters beautiful enough to be featured here? We want to see them! Share a photo of your home featuring your shutters with the hashtag #ShareYourShutters, or post a photo on our Facebook page. We’d love to show off some shutters from a Connecticuter next time!
